Why Family First?

Sihef Richardson grew up surrounded by family who used food to love, guide and nurture others. His great-grandmother and mother both used food to minister, comfort, and bring joy to many people.                  

Sihef's great-grandmother , Emma Johnson grew a community garden for her neighborhood in North Philly that fed hundreds of families. She also cooked every day and kept her doors open to friends, family, and neighbors. She passed away in March 2016 but Sihef hopes to continue her legacy through Family First Catering.

Sihef was also inspired by his mother, Diane Richardson who prepared food in order to minister and bring joy to thousands of people. She cooked and organized functions for family, neighbors, church events and large corporate events.

Sihef was struck by how these two phenomenal women made people feel, by preparing food with the spirit of love. Sihef witnessed the power of love through food preparation, first-hand from these two women and decided that he wanted to impact others the same way. He initially attended college with a major in Psychology but realized that his true passion was in food service. He went on to obtain a degree in Culinary Arts.

Sihef shared his vision with his wife, Patricia Richardson and together they decided to create Family First Catering, LLC. Sihef and Patricia believe Family First Catering represents the power of love that is associated with family and are honored to spread that love to others!
